Steinberg; “Budget is Sacred, Moral Life or Death Issue!”

Posted on June 25 2009   by Eric Hogue

Senator Steinberg has declared, “I am drawing a line in the sand”.

The Pro-Tem turned “preacher” and then “sheriff” as he spoke during the press conference.

steinberg-picture-images1Today the State Senate is in session, and it sounds as if Speaker Karen Bass will follow suit with the Assembly. Steinberg said, “we are going to meet every day until July one, every day…we must get this done by July one..and we will.”

Steinberg says, “this is not politics, we have a sacred – I would even call it a moral obligation – to stand up for the least among us. This is why many of us came into politics.”

The Pro Tem compared some of the Republican demands upon cuts in government and services as, “a matter of life and death.” Steinberg continued, “what will happen to 900,000 who will end up without health insurance, and those families who are on their way back to work through CalWORKS. We are talking about real lives here.”

So now it is spiritual in Sacramento; no more cuts, it’s time for California to create more revenue for the $25 billion budget deficit.

Here is the Senator’s 20-minute Press Conference after yesterday’s refusal by the Republican Party.

When Politicians say they are going to work every day, translation… they are going to figure out a new way to tax the voters. Get ready for a load of crap coming to a theater near you!

You and your morals have bankrupted this state! You do not have a “moral obligation” to steal our money and spend it as you see fit. You have a moral obligation to fix this mess you created and quit bleeding us to death. We had the tea party, I think it is time to tar and feather these guys , then run them out of town!
