Congresswoman Matsui Admits to Calling White House About IG Walpin!

Posted on July 21 2009   by Eric Hogue

I have always believed that Inspector General Gerald Walpin was terminated by President Barack Obama due to millions of dollars – not as a personal favor to a Democrat African-American Mayor in Sacramento.

matsuiToday I was offered a video from March 28, 2009 that has me even more convinced that President Obama illegally fired IG Walpin after the White House was contacted by Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento).

(NATIONAL VIEWERS: There is more to the story than just the stimulus money, Matsui has a historic land deal with a local developer, who is waiting for the money to arrive in Sacramento. Read the earlier post at HOGUE NEWS.)

On June 11, 2009 (the audio is at HOGUE NEWS AUDIO to confirm), I spoke with Mayor Kevin Johnson and asked him if he had spoken to anyone about his inability to receive federal funds due to an investigation finding misappropriation of federal grant money as it related to his educational non-profit St. Hope Academy.

Mayor Johnson made it very clear that he hadn’t spoken to anyone, and that nobody had contacted the Obama Administration on his behalf of Sacramento by her thousands of Democrat developers who became Obama contributors in 2008. I especially pressed him on the fact that people knew $300 million had been earmarked and that his infraction was holding that garvy train up in Washington DC; “Did anyone contact Obama on your behalf to clear your name so the federal funds can arrive?” The mayor was solid, nobody called on my behalf.

Sacramento had much to celebrate after the Obama victory, and the Johnson mayoral win – but now the new mayor was prohibiting the cash flow. It was either clear Mayor KJ, or get around Mayor KJ so the money could fill the pockets of the project developers of the city.

The person who could make that happen – Inspector General Walpin – would not budge from his all-or-nothing consequences. He became the target of many in Sacramento and Washington DC.

IG Walpin had found that Mayor Johnson has misappropriated over $800 thousand in federal grants, asking students to wash his car, drive him around the city and participate in political campaigns and rallies. Walpin came down hard, and asked that the entire amount be re-payed before Mayor Johnson and Sacramento could be cleared for the stimulus funding.

What to do if your Sacramento and waiting on $300 million?

Someone has to get to the President and have him tell Walpin to call off his dogs, or better yet – take him off the case. In the end, that’s exactly what happened.

Watch this and take notes; here is a Saturday interview that Congresswoman Doris Matsui gave to KCRA-TV’s Kevin Riggs on March 28, 2009.

Listen to her comments; she admits to calling the White House about Johnson and Sacramento’s stimulus money. Matsui makes it clear that she doesn’t know how, but the money WILL find its way to Sacramento, she almost guarantees it.

“Under any scenario, we are going to get the money. We are going to get the money,” she said. “I understand that process has to unfold. The mayor is dealing with that. We are dealing with the situation at the federal level. The city is taking the right steps. They have to disclose this, and we are moving forward.”

Who did she speak with at the White House?

Did Kevin Johnson call her and ask for the favor?

Mayor Johnson says he never called the congresswoman; is she lying, or is the mayor lying?

Was IG Gerald Walpin fired because of Congresswoman Matsui’s demand during a phone call?

Even a better question: Who is behind Matsui’s determination to get the millions to Sacramento, is it Angelo Tsakopoulous; the man who ‘gave’ her property that allowed her to make thousands in a few weeks for her campaign to replace her husband in Congress?

Did Tsakopoulous ask Matsui to repay him with a favor, clear Sacramento – no matter what it takes – so to free up the $300 million promised for development in Sactoville?

Read the previous posting in the provided link; it only makes sense.

Time for an investigation.

UPDATE: I spoke with IG Walpin on Friday, July 25th.

I think I posted a comment in your last story on this matter. At that time, you said it was about money,Eric, and thought it was the unions, specifically SEIU, who was anxious for stimulus dollars to make it’s way to Sac. I said it was about money, but maybe it was more about a certain big-donor Dem who’d also like to see the money coming this way. It’s probably both of them, as they each had a vested interest in seeing Walpin gone so Sac could receive the stimulus money. But who knew what when? there are indicators out there that suggest it was common knowledge in certain Dem political circles that Walpin was going to get the ax. His firing was NOT something that was decided in May as the Obama administration contends.

Yes, there should be an investigation, but no one seems to care very much about this story, least of all the media, although the Bee did a very good article about it last week. Sometimes, I feel that Republicans lack resolve and tenacity, which will hurt their chances of making a comeback in ’10 or ’12. You just know if the situation was reversed, and it was the GOP on the hotseat, the Dems would grab a hold of a story like this like a pitbull, and not let go. It would be the lead off story every night on all the MSM cable news shows, we wouldn’t be able to escape it!

My God. Al Capone has nothing on the Obama administration, who are as ruthless as it gets. I must say, I continue to be amazed at the depths to which this administration will sink to destroy anyone in their way, cover up their misdeeds and suspicious inter-connections, and reward their friends and supporters with our taxpayer dollars. No wonder they are trying to move so fast. They know that they only have a small window of time before all of their misdealings are brought to light and everything implodes in special-prosecutor investigations and impeachment proceedings. It’s just a matter of time. Welcome to Chicago-Style national politics.

Good luck with all of that.

Good job on your reporting. It looks like Byron York of the Washington Examiner has picked up on this story probably as a result of your work. Thanks for staying on top of it.

Great reporting, keep their feet to the fire on this one. Chicago corruption at it’s finest.

  5. Dave in Sacramento says:

    Wanna-Bet? My Theory IS.

Congresswoman Matsui will lead to the real Brain Trust Phil Angelides former State Treasurer of California and Developer who stands to make Billions by Retrofitting older Building to Environmentalist Green Hippies Standards.

Phil Angelides is also chair of the board of the labor and environmental lobbying coalition known as the Apollo Alliance.

Who is Apollo? Apollo was thought up by a guy named Van Jones a self proclaimed radical/communist/black nationalist who after serving time in prison became a Community Organizer and figure out if ACORN were to join forces with Labor Unions, SCIU and Green Groups such as the Sierra Club. These Groups are funded by Wad Raftky, Soros and soon the American Tax Payer.

Van Jones is now President Obama’s green jobs czar. With Phill Angelides, John Pedesta (Center for American Progress) and Garland Hudson VP of SCIU how could they lose?

This stuff is hands down the Biggest Story no one is reporting.

Give these guys control over Labor, energy and Health Care. You will have NO Individual Rights under Constitution and the Bill of Rights will not be worth the paper it is written on.
