SEIU Go Ahead and Strike, “We Dare You!”

Posted on August 3 2009   by Eric Hogue

The SEIU “Purple Shirts” voted to approve of a strike, if their union bosses saw fit to force a major walkout.

seiu-logoThey won’t strike, it’s all show.

They are to cowardly to strike and take their own lives into their own hands. What would they do if they had to survive on their own? Give me a break.

This is nothing more than an attention- getting tantrum; childish unions throwing themselves on the Capitol floor, kicking and screaming and shouting how life isn’t fair because of a real life economical consequence.

If you’re serious about a strike – do it; we dare you. Quit talking about it, quit threatening the news media and just do it already. Otherwise; shut-up.

Or, do us all a favor and grow up. Life ain’t fair.

Did you know that over the past few years wages for public employee unions (government workers) have been growing twice as fast than those in the private sector? And do we need to talk about the escalating destruction that  scandalous public employee pensions have reaped upon the private sector?

Now they are upset with three furlough days; how about my idea of cutting over 15,000 state workers jobs?

The California Government Unions (primarily the SEIU in this case) think it is perfectly fine for the State to look for ways to save money, cut expenses and re-allocate budgeted money; just as long as it goes to fully pay their union contracts.

You can have a recession and a $26 billion deficit, but the remedy has to come somewhere other than union paychecks, furloughs and reduction of state workers jobs. And I am primarily talking about the multiple levels of supervisors, administrators and management level big wigs.

So go ahead, call for a strike and walkout of your jobs.

The last time I checked unemployment was nearly 13-percent in California. There certainly is a large pool of educated, intelligent and experienced workers who would be willing to give your office a go as you walk out the door. Sure, you might shut-down government for a month, but what happens after 30-days?

All of a sudden the voters have a clearer pictures of the threat of “card check”, the necessity of a two-tiered pension plan for new union hires and a question as to why we need government unions in the first place. I can hear them now, “How is it that they have rich unions telling them to stike in the middle of a recession?”

That makes for great conversation over the dining room table at night, and lends itself to loads of material for future elections, initiatives and campaigns inside of 2010.

So – go ahead – strike.

The state would love to discuss: spiking pension salaries, retirement at 55 years of age, pension cost of living increases after two years and the ever present double-dipping after retirement, as you are placed by your money hungry union back into the heist of government work.

If you want to spotlight the corrupt, manipulative, greedy and egotistical government unions for the world, go ahead and strike – walkout.

Make our day.

20,0000 state workers have send germaine letters stating the they want their union dues reduce. If union goes on strike they would be the see most of state worker going to work. The SEIU admitted last week that they are doing job actions no strike.

Pink slips mean we lay-off the newest hires – strikes mean we fire employees with poor judgment.

I once was involved in a potential strike at the Sacramento Hilton in 1986 ish. The union was talking tough and a few employees thought they could shut us down. At the vote, we were ready to rehire all the food serice people right then and there and all the housekeeping staff if they voted to stike. At the meeting they needed a total of 7 votes to strike. When they totalled up the vote they got 2 votes. When it come right down to it, having a decent job is a pretty good deal. We calculated that the raise they were seeking would have never paid them back for the time lost on the job for losing one days wages for TWO YEARS! Go ahead and make my day and strike! I know many friends that need a job!

I’m thinking of a movie. “A day without a state worker.” It would show how life in California would grind to a halt without the contributions of the trod-upon, hard working state employees. Wait a minute…too implausible.
