The “Capitol Hour” has produced some GOP Gubernatorial Crossfire:

Seems that a remedial interview I offered Meg Whitman in May has turned into a charge from Steve Poizner. Whitman mentioned that she was open to three fall debates, and now Poizner has started to schedule the dates, location and offer the invitations.

1380 KTKZ and “The Capitol Hour”  has invited both camps for another date in late October or early November for Northern California; more details at the close of this post.

Here is a letter sent From Steve Poizner’s Camp to Camp Whitman; I am told that Tom Campbell has also been invited. Here is the letter from Team Poizner: 

Dear Mr. Gomez, (Meg Whitman’s Manager)            

Our campaign is excited to announce that today we have accepted the debate invitation from Brandman University in Irvine, California for the date of October 20th. As you are aware, the debate will focus on “Solutions to the California Financial Crisis,” which is a topic of utmost importance to the voters of this state.

This debate invitation is timely. On May 18th, while Commissioner Poiznerand Tom Campbell were participating in the first gubernatorial debate, Meg Whitman appeared on The Capitol Hour with Eric Hogue to issue this challenge:

“I’ve asked Steve if he’d like to participate in three debates in the fall in different parts of the state on a far more wide range of subjects than just the propositions. So I think he’ll take me up on that. I hope he will anyway.”

We feel that the Brandman University debate will serve as an excellent setting for one of those three fall debates.

Former Representative Campbell has previously demonstrated his commitment to an open dialogue and his willingness to debate the issues.

We wait your acceptance of this debate and are looking forward to scheduling the other two debates that Mrs. Whitman proposed for the fall as well.

Steve Poizner for Governor 2010

“The Capitol Hour” and 1380 KTKZ has invited Commissioner Steve Poizner and Businesswoman Meg Whitman (and Representative Tom Campbell) for the scheduling of a second debate for this fall to be held for Northern California.

I personally spoke with representatives within both camps, offered a later date in October or early November  for a Northern California location near Sacramento, California. 1380 KTKZ would like to host the event at a local venue, probably William Jessup University in Rocklin, California and broadcast it “live” on the air that evening.

Both campaigns expressed immediate interest, we are waiting for their reply.
