Gov. Arnold’s Return to Hollywood
And we thought the recognition of President Barack Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize had no merit, significance or conviction; that was until we heard of Schwarzenegger’s choice of recognition Monday.
Announced on the hidden Columbus Day holiday, California now has a fourth special day of special recognition for the citizens of the great state.
California will now celebrate the great accomplishments of late San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk.
Milk will be added to Muir’s natural environmentalism, the state’s under-paid teachers and their successful achievement of 49th place out of 50 states, the state flower that grows in the warm sunshine; and now, the first openly gay politician who was terribly assassinated along with a San Francisco Mayor, George Mascone in 1977.
Thank you Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
One question governor; what about the days of recognition for a former governor who defeated communism in the former Soviet Union, or our numerous military leaders – too many to list here, and ever-growing list of inventors, creators, scientists and business leaders that our school children could emulate?
Well, that would be the California way, would it Mr. Governor?
So each year California will celebrate a flower, the natural processes of life, those that teach our kids and now a man’s desires as a gay politician. These are the ‘achievers’ the state legislators want our kids to admire.
Is it any wonder that the legislators are gaining a mere 13-percent approval rating today? And if there is greater evidence of a need for a part-time legislative body, I can’t find it.
But we are left confused; what changed from Arnold’s “Milk Day” veto in 2008, to his signing of the bill here in 2009?
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said he was finally convinced that a Harvey Milk Day – for the 40-million residence of the Golden State – has merit, after he vetoed the same rag the previous year.
In 2008 the Governor stated that Milk’s accomplishments would be better served locally in San Francisco, not for the entire educational system. He was right then, and he would have been right again.
The New York Times reported Monday, “Mr. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, was apparently convinced by the argument, made by Mr. Leno, that an Oscar-winning film examining Mr. Milk’s life released last year and the governor’s induction of Mr. Milk into the California Hall of Fame was persuasive evidence for a change of heart.”
And that’s not all folks. Arnold’s big day wasn’t over, he had more to offer the rainbow coalition.
Arnold also signed legislation that recognizes a niche group of same-sex marriages performed before the passing of Proposition 8, and after rogue Mayor Gavin Newsome started to operate such illegal certificates in San Francisco.
So here we have a Governor who has stated on numerous occasions, “I will always represent the will of the people as it refers to same-sex marriage”, now ignoring – not just one, but two statewide initiative votes refusing such marriages.
How nice; a man who owes his mark in history to a grassroots initiative effort in 2003, and as soon as he can see the light at the end of his gubernatorial tunnel, he treads over their votes to ‘kiss the rears’ of legislators like Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (Tom asked him too, twice) and appeases the likes of State Senator Mark Leno.
Mr. Leno said he was “pleased” about the governor’s decision. “In light of his veto message on the same bill last year,” he said, “he clearly evolved in his thinking.” Asked if he was surprised, Mr. Leno said, “We can leave it at ‘pleased.’ ” Good answer Mr. Leno, there are no more surprises in Sacramento.
So Harvey Milk being honored with an Obama Administration postumous Medal of Freedom and a Hollywood film featuring the ever liberal actor Sean Penn, changed the perspective for the residence, parents and taxpayers of California.
Welcome to the new fourth house: Hollywood. Well, let’s be honest , it is Arnold’s only future.
Hollywood is coming into focus more and more for the termed out, tarnished, one-hit wonder Schwarzenegger. Senator Leno, a little advice - don’t believe Arnold, it really wasn’t a change of heart that lead him to sign this bill it is best described as a soon coming change of location – “Hollywood, here I come; home sweet home.”
It’s no secret, Arnold has always caved to his inner desire to be accepted and admired. It was a weakness that was either ignored, or miss, during his historic recall election. Arnold is preparing for his re-entry. He’s termed out and preparing his re-entry into Tinsel Town.
Then to make sure he didn’t miss any one in the ‘self aggrandizing celebrity world’ , Arnold has showered his future elitists with a piece of legislation that targets the paparazzi.
Schwarzenegger signed an anti-paparazzi bill making it easier to sue media outlets that use photos that invade celebrities’ privacy. A statement issued Monday says the former “Terminator” star had signed a number of bills, including the amendment to a decade-old law that allows fines against paparazzi who illegally or offensively take photos or recordings.
The amendment permits lawsuits against media outlets that pay for and make first use of material they knew was improperly obtained. Tabloid magazines, TV shows and Internet sites sometimes pay millions of dollars for celebrity fodder. The amendment takes effect in January.
How nice, Arnold comes home with gifts from his 7-years tour of Sacramento; enjoy the fruits of my labor Hollywood, get in line, there is something for every elitist here – no pushing.
But the Columbus Day announcement of Harvey Milk Day takes the cake.
If you peel away the real reason that Milk is being honored – he was gay, and an elected politician – there is no real reason to recognize him like Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez or even California’s first natural environmentalist John Muir. But that is exactly where this is headed folks.
Now school kids will send May 22 discussing a man’s sexual orientation, and then comparing it to the merits of King and Chavez. I am already hearing chants that Harvey Milk is the homosexuals Martin Luther King, Jr. I wonder how that equal footing will be embraced in the future?
As for our excellent educational system, California’s new text books will feature chapters on a man who liberated a country from racial attitudes, a man who represented an ever hard working and achievement labor force, and a man who had a preferred choice of sexual partners.
As the Governor would say, “Welcome to Cali-forneeee- a”.
What is really scary is that fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger has one more round of overseeing legislation come October of 2010. What liberal, Hollywood created legislation will he sign heading into the next Halloween? Boo!
I can only think of one radical solution; maybe we can create legislation that allows Hollywood to secede from the country and the state, then Arnold can become the admired President he has dreamed of himself becoming.
Happy ‘Milk Day’ everyone.

Apparently a movie that recognized Milk led to legislation, so when will we recognize Conan the Barbarian. Seems to fit in California now doesn’t it?
I call upon parents to keep their children home from school on May 22 in protest for teaching our children that a homosexual lifestyle is to be celebrated.
