Ford Made How Much Money?

Posted on November 3 2009   by Paul Smith

fordFord Motor company somehow made close to a Billion dollars in the 3rd quarter in 2009!  How is this possible?

Recently I took a few days off and drove from Sacramento to Los Angeles. I spent a lot of time in my car and had a chance to reflect on our Government, the policies being enacted, rammed down our throats and a few thoughts about the meaning of life.

I went four days without radio or Television! Honestly, I didn’t miss it.

I am concerned greatly that the American People, who have there hands full trying to put a meal on the table, are unable to look at our counties events and cut through the rhetoric (aka bull&^%$) that comes out of Washington DC. And that every story has a spin to make each party look good.

I don’t know about you, but I could sure use the plain truth whether it is the good, bad or the ugly. Just give me the truth!

Today I am reading my local newspaper and, behold, Ford Motor Company somehow makes nearly a billion dollars in profit in the 3rd quarter. Why is that so newsworthy? How in the heck does one American Auto Company turn a profit in the worst market since the depression and not take one dime of bailout money?

And that leads me to another question; why did we the taxpayers go on the hook to bailout Chrysler and GM? If Ford was able to figure out how to survive, why didn’t the other two figure it out and why did you and I have to pay for two companies that didn’t know how to manage themselves?

I was always taught that you got rewarded when you did something good, not when you run a company into the ground. Ford may still be on shaky ground, but the fact that they have survived without government money has to make you wonder did we just get hoodwinked on the other two companies?

Are we going to start rewarding companies that can’t turn a profit anymore? Oops we already did.

I don’t know about you, but I am stretching every dollar in my household to keep my costs down, but yet our own government seems to just blow it on companies that are mis-managed, and unable to adapt to the market. Where is the logic in that?

What incentive do I have as the US taxpayer have to continue to support a Government that wastes my money?

I recently put out an article on the 50 biggest government waste programs. View it here. It is obscene to see my own government fritter away my money, as we all struggle to make ends meet.

Maybe we need to have Ford go in and run the government as it is apparent they have figured it out on their own.

As a small business owner, I have to pay taxes and fees up the yang-yang just to stay in business. Then I have to try and make a profit. It is rather disheartening to see the waste, fraud and bailout money going out the door, when Ford has somehow survived.

Why can’t Chrysler and GM do the same?

Sink or swim you two, take your hand off of my tax dollars. You screwed up, didn’t manage your companies well, and you should face the consequences. Now you expect me to bail your stupid butts out!

Isn’t that called parenting 101?

With un-employment expected to hit 10-percent soon, and the Fed worried about inflation, can we really afford to spend any more money on a failed company?

Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, DTS, or any of the other parties, can you really justify the spending that has gone on recently given that companies can survive if they put their minds to it?

Too big to fail is the worst economic strategy I have ever heard. Who teaches that in any business school.

It believe it is time for a change in DC and just putting the same old folks back in office is a mistake. Hell…some off them had a hand in causing this crisis!

If Ford can do it, what does that say to you as a taxpayer whose government  has just hocked your children to the tune of almost $40,000 per person propping up all these other companies?

I’m angry, and I am mad as hell, and I am not taking it anymore! Vote for the right guy this time be it Democrat or Republican.

It can’t get any worse and maybe it will get better. Look at all the candidates just not the ones in your own party. Let’s put the country and it’s people first not last like it has been for a long time.

I am one guy trying to make a change in our country…will you join me?
