Lungren Fights Democrats on Terrorism
Democrats have stricken the Lone Wolf Provision from the Patriot Act. What follows is my initial report after speaking with Congressman Dan Lungren…
While Republicans were fighting to keep Americans safe, Washington Democrats sought to remove the one provision in the Patriot Act that allows for foreign nationals to be heavily investigated, as an individual, if they are thought to be a candidate for sudden jihadists terror similar to the rampage orchestrated by Army Major Nidal M. Hasan.
Congressman Dan Lungren (R- Gold River, CA.) informed me that the majority party wanted the sunset rule to mature, allowing the Lone Wolf Provision of the Patriot Act to be removed.
Lungren reports that the House Judiciary Committee was discussing this consideration this past week, just ahead of Major Nidal M. Hasan’s terrorists action against America and his own Army members in Fort Hood, Texas.
The Lone Wolf Provision gives the federal government the right to use tech-intelligence surveillance upon individuals (foreign nations) who are thought to be planning an individual action of terrorism against the United States.
Congressman Dan Lungren was one of the Republicans who originally placed the Lone Wolf Provision in the Patriot Act back in 2003.
The Democrats wanted to allow the provision to expire, allowing only those individuals who associate themselves with groups to be investigated by the federal government’s terror protecting efforts in the Patriot Act. Thus, if you’re a foreign nation planning to become a homicide bomber, you would not be investigated by Homeland Security or the FBI due to the fact that you are acting as an individual.
Congressman Lungren lead the charge to ‘not’ remove the Lone Wolf Provision as Democrats were determined to allow it to lapse under the sunset rule. Lungren reports that even President Barack Obama made a statement that it should be upheld and renewed.
One has to consider our urgency and edge of readiness our political leaders have in Washington these days. Here we have Democrats allowing a portion of the Patriot Act to fall away, due to concerns that we should only be investigating terrorists intentions that relate to groups – while ignoring individual people.
How surreal to have the majority party demanding that a valid investigation tool that keeps Americans safe from sudden, individual acts of terrorism, while the military tries to recover from its worse individual act of terrorist massacre in history.
Most Americans support Homeland Security, the FBI and every law enforcement operation we can offer, to be given permission to tap, trace and personally investigate an individuals, groups and known terrorist organizations within the United States, why does the majority party refuse to join the rest of the country?
The Lone Wolf Provision keeps US citizens safe from radical Islam, any sudden personal jihad, homicide bombers, mass shootings and any planned personal massacres. To ignore an individual because they are acting alone is ignorant, and more weak-kneed political correctness from the majority party.
Congratulations to Dan Lungren, and others like him, who realized this vital provisions necessity before the Democrats could erase it from our defensive stance with terrorists and terrorism.
There is another issue: if we succeed in keeping the Lone Wolf Provision, it sure would be nice if we used it. While speaking with Lungren, he made the comment that the provision has never been used since September 11, 2001.
No better time than the present; considering the events that have evolved this week in Texas.
BREAKING:I am hearing from congressional officials that the Washington Democrats have stricken the “Lone Wolf Provision” from the Patriot Act – ahead of its expiration date in December. The Democrats have now removed the ability for our FBI and Homeland Security to “individually” (by technical surveillance) investigate foreign nationals here in the United States.
Here is the exact writing of the provision:
Section 104 – Sunset of Lone Wolf: Background and Summary
Section 6001 of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 amended the definition of “agent of a foreign power” in FISA to include the so-called “lone wolf” provision. This definition allows the government to surveil a non-U.S. person who is engaging in international terrorism or activities in preparation of international terrorism even if that target is not a foreign power or an agent of a foreign power.
Thus, for example, FISA tools can now be used against a foreign national who is engaging in acts to prepare for a terrorist attack against the U.S. but who is not affiliated or cannot be shown to be affiliated with a terrorist organization.
The lone wolf provision is scheduled to expire on December 31, 2009. This section does NOT renew the lone wolf provision. Instead, it repeals the lone wolf definition in FISA and makes other technical and conforming changes. Despite this repeal, the bill maintains lone wolf reporting requirements in the AG’s first semi-annual report following enactment.

We are told that Islam is a “peaceful” religion. The President has told us that we “should not jump to conclusions” about what happened iat Fort Hood.
Time was when leftists, liberals, and America and Christian haters loved Communism and had sky-high hopes for it to succeed. The Father of Communism, Karl Marx, was a man who was no good at earning a living. Thus, Marx his wife and children lived in abject poverty. By contrast, Mohammad was a successful businessman who had engaged in big time commerce before turning to religion.
I was one of those Republicans who had faith that this man was going to do good for this country.
Since taking office, there has not been ONE GOOD THING HE HAS DONE…not for the economy…not for taxpayers and definitley not for the security of this country….
I want to start IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS against him. I argued with my own when they said he was a Muslim…or a Muslim sympathizer…I NIW fully believe he is tirning us over to the enemy…

On the National Day of Prayer, a day Pres Bush as a Christian took seriously, Obama was out on the golf course stating that one should take a moment out of the day for silence – I wonder how reverent his silence was out on the green. Obama was raised a Muslim as documents show – how can he have ties to Christianity when he has dodged his choice of church out in the open society and simply “worships” at Camp David. If Obama supports the “lone wolf” provision, it’s only because he understands what a lone wolf is as a man who lives in his “sheep’s clothing.”
