Walpin Fired for Exposing Obama’s “Secret Deal”?

Posted on June 16 2009   by Eric Hogue

While the Beltway is a buzz about the termination of Inspector General Gerald Walpin, the Capitol of Sacramento is sheepishly coy; with the mayor’s office now offering an official “no comment at this time” statement.

Nixon Scandal PictureWith news that First Lady, Michelle Obama, might of had a hand in firing the independent inspector, the city is waking up to a simple question; “Why was Inspector General Gerald Waplin fired for doing his job in locating nearly $850,000 misused funds inside of St. Hope Academy?”

Did Walpin offend the Obama Administration with his findings?

Was Walpin to find the misused funds and keep quiet, striking a ‘behind closed doors’ deal with the mayor?

Was there a “deal” already struck ahead of the closure of Walpin’s investigation?

Again, the main question remains unanswered; what are the reasons for an inspector general to be fired after a successful investigation?

President Jimmy Carter created the Inspector Generals Office in 1978 to locate abuse, fraud and unethical misappropriations of federal funds – this is exactly what Walpin found, and nobody is refuting this fact.

Why do you fire an inspector when he has done his job appropriately?

One is left to assume that he was removed because he was insubordinate, he wouldn’t go along with the offered instructions, the demands to keep it quiet, and keep his findings from the media.

This is the repeated charges against Walpin, that he refused to keep his findings quiet. It seems that Walpin’s decision to publicize his findings before the the US Attorney’s Office had an opportunity to review his evidence was his misstep; it was a “decision made without the consultation of this office, I can assure you of that”, stated US Attorney Lawrence G. Brown.

Why was Brown so concerned about the public announcement of the commonly embraced violations that St. Hope Academy had operated?

Why did Brown need to hear the details ahead of the public?

Was there a deal struck before Walpin was finished?

Remember, the mayor’s campaign never contested the findings. Mayor Johnson even admitted on my show that there were a few accounting errors within St. Hope Academy that he would oversee to correction for the future.

Did the mayor’s staff know what Walpin would find, and were there communications with the US Attorney’s Office and the Obama Administration to get ahead of the embarrassing investigation that would ultimately keep federal dollars – as in millions of stimulus funding – from Sacramento?

Brown has also stated that Walpin was insubordinate with the verdict, Walpin did not want to go along with the “re-pay the $400,000 from the $800,000 misused – Walpin wanted the consequences to stand; full repayment and no additional federal funds arriving to any political office with oversight operated by Mayor Kevin Johnson.

Can you blame a guy for sticking to the letter of the law, and its consequence? So his superiors make a deal he doesn’t like, and he’s verbal about it, do you fire him for his convictions?

Again, tell us why was Walpin fired?

After reading, speaking and researching this tangled ordeal, there is only one logical explanation; there was a deal struck above Walpin before his investigation was completed. Walpin going public, and simply releasing the details of his investigation, breached the agreement of the deal struck behind closed doors, embarrassing Kevin Johnson, US Attorney Lawrence G. Brown and those operating on behalf of the Obama Administration.

The logical reason for Gerald Walpin’s termination; he did his job and he was told (or not) to keep his findings quiet, so the operatives could orchestrate a deal to minimize the scope of the misappropriations of federal funds related to the AmeriCorps programs at St. Hope Academy. In the end, saving face for Mayor Kevin Johnson, and saving millions for the budget of the City Council of Sacramento.

Now it is time for a new investigation, to prove that this is not the case.

Do not let this story die! Let’s get to the truth! Every detail. I wish I would have been a journalist!

Eric you’re right on track. The US Attorney’s office was not going to make the amount or the deal public. Walpin knew he was being kept out of the negotiations and settlement talks, so he went public. Now the President has to explain why he violated the Inspector General Reform Act by not providing, in writing, the reasons for the removal. No longer having the full confidence of the President isn’t a legitimate reason. If it is, then I want to use it to fire the White House.

    Brad,

Plus, Kevin Johnson is both a “pond” and the “problem” here; KJ is not the reason for this ploy. The real person is an individual who benefits by Obama’s Sacramento stimulus money, and Kevin Johnson as Mayor of Sacramento. This “person” gave large amounts of money to Obama, the DNC and to Kevin Johnson – the person may even be a major union. This is the person of influence, not Johnson…find this person and you will find the connection to Michelle, Barack and the secret orders.

    Good to hear from you!

This is pure Chicago Style Politics. Break the kneecaps of anyone who DARES to expose theft, mismanagement and pilfering of taxpayer money, ESPECIALLY when a friend and supporter of the Ayatolla Obama is involved in the pilfering. Mr. Walpin should NEVER have been fired and the fact that he was is proof that this administration is a corrupt as they come. This needs a complete INDEPENDENT investigation! Don’t let this story die, please.

Do you remember the mayor stating that he was “confident” that the charges would be minor. I remember thinking how can he be so confident? This is serious business! Perhaps the mayor KNEW he would not face serious sanctions before Mr. Walpin knew. His spokesman constantly said it was just “sloppy bookeeping” which is what the Atty general said almost word for word. Interesting….
