Paul Smith is the owner of Metro Realty and 1st Sierra Mortgage. He has lived in Sacramento for 25 years. In 2008 he ran against Doris Matsui for CD 5 and received one of the highest vote totals a Republican has ever received in 10+ years. He is already running for the 2010 race and in August of 2009 held a Health Care TownHall meeting which forced Doris Matsui into having her own do to the pressure. Before getting into the Real Estate Industry 20 years ago he was a manager for fortune 500 restaurants and hotels including the Sacramento Hilton.
He is a classically trained concert bassoonists and plays in all the local orchestra’s in Sacramento. In 2006 he played at Carnegie Hall and has also cut a DVD of his performance with the ARC Orchestra doing Webers Bassoon Concerto in F Major opus 75.
He has coached varsity baseball at Encina High School, been a reading tutor at Jonas Salk Elementary, and played in the adult baseball and hockey leagues in Sacramento. He also speaks at all the local colleges and has been a guest lecturer at the Los Rios Community Colleges. He has attended seven colleges and Universities all over the Pacific Northwest. In his spare time he likes to hike to the area waterfalls and you can find him salsa dancing at the local salsa venues.
Nick Kump is Vice President at Elmets Communications in Sacramento, where he plays an integral role in message management, speech writing, coalition building and media relations efforts. Prior to joining the Elmets team, he was an officer candidate in the U.S. Marine Corps, but injured his shoulder in officer school. Kump is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication, where he studied public relations, marketing and integrated communications.
Kump has experience in consumer product launches, branding, sports, financial services and healthcare public relations as well as grassroots political campaigning. His diverse job and life experiences have helped shape his unique and comprehensive view of the media and government.
Kump currently holds a teaching credential in California and is a certified EMT-1 Basic. He is an avid chess player and has been blogging on various issues since 2007.
Eric Hogue is a 29-plus year radio (talk/sports) professional and the sole owner of HOGUE NEWS. Hogue has received numerous broadcast awards in his broadcast career that started in Canton, Ohio as a sixteen year-old.
Hogue was honored with Salem Communication’s 2004 “Andy Anderson Award” for excellence in broadcasting being. One of his claims to fame was starting the Gray Davis Recall with People’s Advocate Ted Costa in February of 2003.
Hogue has been named among “The Best of Sacramento’s Local Talk Hosts” in years 2003, 2004 and 2005 and mentioned as one of the “Most Influential People” in 2004. Eric also has a strong background in sports play-by-play for both radio and television.
While residing in NE Ohio, Hogue was the University of Akron’s Television play-by-play voice for football and basketball from ’84-to-’92, as well as Malone University’s football play-by-play announcer for five years. When Hogue arrived in Sacramento He brought his sports passion to his new home, calling high school football games for three years on 1380 KTKZ. Over the years, Hogue has appeared on ESPN, the KBL Sports Network in Pittsburgh and Sports Channel Ohio covering NCAA Division 1 basketball, and numerous radio stations and network affiliates to list.
Hogue has had his brush with political office; in 2007 he ran for State Assembly for four months, before fulfilling his promise to the voters of District 4 in Placer County. He is often asked about future political desires as he speaks for many political organizations and party events throughout Northern California.
Eric Hogue is a veteran husband of 21-plus years, married to the lovely Tammy Hogue and blessed to be a learning father of two wonderful teenage daughters. The “Hogue Hut” now calls Placer County and the Capitol Region home, after living in the Midwest for 32-plus years.
Hogue hosts “Hogue In The Morning” (7-9AM weekdays) and “The Capitol Hour” on 1380 KTKZ (12PM Pacific) in Sacramento, California. Eric spends his down time (limited) with family, he enjoys watching sports (Buckeyes, Browns, Indians and cavaliers), as he continues to prepare for each day’s talk show(s) while editing, writing and building HOGUE NEWS.
